Serigne Ibrahima Mbacke

Serigne IbrahimaSerigne Ibrahima Mbacke is the sixth son of Khadimou Rassoul. He was born in 1912 in Daroul Alim Al Khabir or Ndam. His mother Sokhna Fatma, was originally from Mauritania. Almost 50 years after the return of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba to Senegal from Gabon, Cheikh Ibrahima Mbacke saw his father in a dream assigning him to take a trip to Gabon. As a result, Cheikh Ibrahima, with the blessings of his brother and the then-caliph of Muridiya, Serigne Fallou Mbacke, had the utmost privilege of going to Gabon to complete the mission of his father therein. It was in 1954 that Cheikh Ibra Mbacke left his village of Mbacke (a nearby village of Mbacke-Barry) for Gabon. Indeed there is a striking coincidence in all this because his father, Khadimou Rassoul, had also departed from a village called Mbacke-Barry in 1895 for his exile to Gabon, therefore their two departing villages have the same names but different locations. In addition, Serigne Ibrahima made all the stops that his father did on his way to Gabon. Once in Gabon, he found a 98-yearold man named Samba Ndiaye who accompanied and took him to all the places that Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Khadimou Rassoul had stayed during his exile there. Serigne Ibrahima stayed in Gabon for 3 months and passed away 3 months after his return to Senegal. Indeed,Khadimou Rassoul’s choice on Cheikh Ibra Mbacke to complete his mission in Gabon was not a mere guess, but something that he meant and wanted. Sources reported that the Sheikh once said that his exile to Mauritania was not what the colonial powers thought it was, but an occasion for him to enjoy the fruits of his work in Gabon. Consequently, it is after the end of his exile to Gabon that 3 of the Sheikh’s children were born in Mauritania to Mauritanian mothers. They are: Sokhna Aminata Mbacke; Serigne Abdoulaye Mbacke ; and Serigne Ibrahima Mbacke.

Finally, through observations one could easily see that each son or daughter of our beloved Sheikh, Serigne Touba Khadimou Rassoul, had his/her own earthly mission and mysticism that they inherited from their father’s unfailing source of goods. Serigne Ibrahima Mbacke, a namesake of Prophet Ibrahim, was known for his many miracles and his generosity. He left us with only four sons: Serigne Abdourahmane Mbacke, Serigne Khadim Mbacke, (who passed away on May 9, 2001), Serigne Falilou Mbacke, and Serigne Mame Mor Mbacke Ibrahim (who passed away in 1985).
