By-laws of The Murid Islamic Community in America, Inc.
Membership Application
A. A Regular member shall:
a. Fulfill the requirements as outlined in Article V of the Constitution.
b. Submit the MICA membership application form to the Secretary of the Community for approval by the Board of Directors.
c. Pay the membership dues for the fiscal year as decided by the Board of Directors.
B. A Junior member shall:
a. Fulfill the requirements as outlined in Article V of the Constitution.
b. Submit the MICA membership application form, jointly with his or her Custodial parent and/or legal guardian approval to the secretary of the community.
C. An Associate member shall:
a. Fulfill the requirements as outlined in Article V of the Constitution.
b. Submit the MICA membership application form to the Secretary of the Community for approval by the Board of Directors
c. Pay the membership dues for the fiscal year as decided by the Board of Directors.
Rights and Privileges
A Regular member shall have full voting rights provided that he has been member in good standing for not less than 90 consecutive days prior to the time of the vote. A Regular member in good standing shall have the right to register and participate to any Standing Committee.
B. A Junior member, Associate member or Honorary member shall not have the right to vote or to hold an office in the Community.
C. All members shall be eligible to receive Islamic literature that may be distributed by the Community.
D. All members shall receive a non-transferable membership for the fiscal year.
Termination of the Membership
A. Upon charges brought against any member, in writing and filed with the Secretary, and upon hearing by the Board of Directors constituting the quorum at any regular or special meeting called.
For such purpose, a member may be expelled or suspended. A member so expelled or suspended upon written request filed with the Secretary may appeal to the Board of Trustees for reinstatement of his membership. The decision of the Board of Trustees shall be final and binding.
B. Any member may resign by filing a written resignation with the Secretary but such resignation shall not relieve the member of the obligation to pay dues, assessments or other charges theretofore accrued and unpaid.
General Body
A. The General Body meeting shall be held at such place and time as the Board of Directors designate.
B. The notice of a General Body meeting shall be mailed to each member at the address shown on the mailing list not more thirty days prior to the date of the meeting and not less than ten days prior to the date of the meeting.

Elections
A. Individual Regular member shall cast one vote provide he (she) has been member for not less than 90 consecutive days prior to the time of the mailing of the ballots for election.
B. The ballots for election shall be mailed to qualified Regular members on record by the Election Committee at least forty five (45) days prior to the date of Bi-Annual General Body meeting.
C The last date for receiving the duly marked ballots shall be the fifteen (15) day prior to the date of the Annual General Body meeting.
Record maintenance
Section 1. Records and books:
The Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors and the Executive Community shall keep correct and complete records of the business of the Community. Such records and books shall be available for inspection, upon request and reasonable notice, to both Regular and Associate members.
Amendments to By-Laws
Those By-Laws may be amended or repealed, and new By-Laws be adopted by a three fourth (3/4) majority of the Board of Directors, present at any regular meeting provided that at least one week written notice of intention is given, such amendments must be ratified by a simple majority of the regular members present in the following General Body meeting.
